Learnline will be key to your CDU journey. It's used in all your units and has is a great software with lots of usability and potential.

On this page I just want to share the most helpful tricks I have learnt after using learnline for 1 semester.

The Annoying Issue

To understand this issue, let me tell you how a typical morning goes for me.

  • I wake up
  • I get ready for uni
  • I go to my class
  • I open my laptop in great anticipation
  • and boom, I am hit with the screen of death
I was automatically signed out of learnline. Yay. Very Annoying.

A glimmer of hope

Luckily, there is a simple solution.

Portal

You will never be signed out of portal, and portal provides a link to learnline that doesn't require you to put your password in. All you need to do is leave portal open on your web browser.

Portal

Portal has other uses that make it indispensable. Portal provides access to Onedrive, Teams, Outlook and the library website.
While you may already have your systems set up for how you manage your files and how you do your things, I encourage you to try out these services that CDU provides. It makes life very easy as you can access all your stuff from any computer through the portal.

Learnline & Due Dates

Two things you will be thinking about a lot. Unfortunately, it can be quite hard to see when all your due dates are when you first start. The lecturers have subject outlines, and you can read the assignment sheets for each one, but nothing... easy.

Luckily for you, I have tried the different methods and I have found the best way of getting all your due dates in one place in a good format. The key is the calendar in learnline. All you need to do is navigate to the calendar on learnline and click on the due dates view and voila.

Learnline navigation

There are a lot of folders and sub folders in learnline, which can be a bit of work to navigate.

This handy trick makes life easy though. As you can see in the video, all you need to do is click on the left side of the screen, where the other tabs are, and then you can do some quick navigation.

Learnline on Mobile

Imagine this, you are waiting to get your grades back, and while you are out with your friends, you get the email that they have been posted to learnline. Your computer is at home, and that's that, you simply have to wait. Your night is ruined in your anticipation

Luckily for you, you can access learnline on your mobile, through the "blackboard" app. It also has a bunch of other useful features, such as viewing announcements, seeing your due dates, as well as other things. Definitely download, it will be helpful.

I hope you found these learnline and portal tips and tricks helpful. Good luck with your studies, and if you learn of any more tricks, please let me know.

All the best,
Daniel
